Obama Ignores Science; Embraces Politics Instead of Embryonic Stem Cell Success; Charmaine on FOX and Quoted in Christianity Today

President Obama says he wants Science not Politics.

President Obama delivers Politics not Science.

Why do liberals always get this backwards?

There are two major kinds of Stem Cell Research: Adult and Embryonic. Adult Stem Cell Research has delivered results and does not kill humans.

Embryonic Stem Cell Research has consumed millions of dollars and delivered nothing and kills humans.

So which type of research will our tax dollars soon be funding?

The type that has had no success.

The type that kills humans.

This new policy is simply shoveling money to a political lobby in a political pay-off.

Politics as usual.

Not science.

This is not what the country voted for.

The Party of Death is in power.

the research of the past.

Good-guy Chris Smith(R) is quoted in The New York Times,

One Republican lawmaker, Representative Christopher Smith of New Jersey, called Mr. Obama “the abortion president,” and organized an event Monday afternoon protesting the new policy. He invited some so-called snowflake children, those born after couples who underwent in-vitro fertilization released their remaining embryos for use by other couples, to attend.

“President Obama has chosen to turn back the clock,” Mr. Smith said in remarks prepared for the event, according to an advance text. “Human-embryo-destroying stem cell research is not only unethical, unworkable and unreliable, it is now demonstrably unnecessary.”

He was referring to progress that scientists have made using adult stem cells derived from nonembryonic sources, such as umbilical cord blood, bone marrow or skin.

Once again you show you know nothing about science.

All the fuss about clinical results–from both sides–misses the point. We need to study embryonic stem cells for BASIC SCIENCE reasons.

  2. SoMG says:

For instance, we need to know what’s different about the embryonic stem cells from the other pluripotent cells. WHY/HOW do the embryonic stem-cell transplants make tumors? Is there something the adult cells have “learned” that the embryonic ones don’t yet know? Or is it just that the adult cells are generally slower-growing and therefore less tumorigenic but also less useful?

abcde We need to know HOW the cells sense their environment and how they respond to it by becoming one type of mature cell rather than another. We need to know whether this process is the same in embryonic, adult, and reprogrammed pluripotent cells, or different. In non-humans and in humans. fghij If we could learn the answers in enough detail, we could learn to grow transplantable organs in factories. Plus, zillions of other applications we haven’t thought of yet–that’s the thing about basic science. It increases the roster of conceivable things.

Charmaine, as I recall you have claimed you understand science. If that is true, please reread the part of the previous paragraph from abcde to fghij and reply to it. Do you disagree that we need to understand the specialization process in detail, including the differences among different types of pluripotent cell, as a matter of basic research? If you disagree, why? Please do not answer, because ESCR kills babies. You claim that ESCR is BOTH immoral AND bad science. I’m only interested in why you say it’s bad science, so please explain and leave out the ethical/moral/religious/political/ideological part. Thanks.

Anyway, President Obama is not ignoring ethics. Only YOUR ethics.
