Charmaine Yoest, Ph.D., president and Chief Executive Officer of Americans United for Life will be a witness providing testimony at the Senate confirmation hearings for Sotomayor.

The Senate Judicary committee will meet this week — Charmaine will be sworn in on Thursday. She is schedule to testify after the American Bar Association and is set up as a rebuttal witness for the pro-administration Mayor Bloomberg.

In listing his requirements for a Supreme Court pick, President Obama highlighted “empathy.” Americans deserve a judge who decides cases on the basis of constitutional principles, not personal feelings. And we deserve to know whether Judge Sotomayor will uphold those principles laid down by the Founding Fathers, or whether she will live up to her claim that the courts are “where policy is made.”

The Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday issued a list of the witnesses lined up to testify at the confirmation hearings for Judge Sonia Sotomayor, which begin Monday…

And the Republicans have lined up Frank Ricci himself, the firefighter from New Haven, Conn., who just won a discrimination case in the Supreme Court, when it overturned a ruling by a panel of judges that included Judge Sotomayor.

For the Democratic majority in the Senate in support of Judge Sotomayor’s confirmation, the other witnesses are:

For the Republicans, the scheduled witnesses are:

Linda Chavez, president of the Center for Equal Opportunity; Sandra S. Froman, a former president of the National Rifle Association; Stephen P. Halbrook, a lawyer and gun rights advocate; Tim Jeffries, the founder of P7 Enterprises, a management consulting firm; Peter N. Kirsanow, a commissioner on the United States Commission on Civil Rights; David Kopel, a lawyer with the Independence Institute; John O. McGinnis, a law professor at Northwestern; Neomi Rao, a law professor at George Mason University; David Rivkin, an associate White House counsel in the Bush-Quayle administration and a partner at the law firm Baker Hostetler; Nick Rosenkranz, a law professor at Georgetown; Ilya Somin, a law professor at George Mason; Lt. Ben Vargas of the New Haven Fire Department; and Charmaine Yoest, Americans United for Life, an anti-abortion group.
