Media Alert: Paula Zahn, CNN Tonite
Rush Limbaugh led off his show today with the altercation between Charmaine Yoest, Ph.D., Fellow at the Family Research Council and Kim Gandy, President of the National Organization of Women in The Nation’s Capital.
There was no blood. But it would still be worth watching.
Paula ZahnCharmaine will be taping with Paula Zahn tonight at 6pm. They will be debating the need for parental notification for abortion. Paula’s show Now usually airs 8 to 9pm weeknights.
We will load the video clips when available.
Charmaine was live blogging when the confrontation occurred. Charmaine tells me that she did in fact “strongly encourage” Kim to leave the podium on the steps of the Supreme Court early in today’s press conference.
Here’s what happened: After Gandy gave her opening remarks, she asked for questions from the reporters. There were none. None.
So Charmaine stepped up to give her remarks. However, there was some resistance by the NOW President to vacate as the unwritten rules of press conference custom demands. Gandy wouldn’t get gone.
But resistance was futile. Charmaine moved to the mic. The Good-Guys won. She delivered her statement and civility returned to the world.

Freedom of speech is always a one way street with liberals.
So much for the mild mannered left.
The culture of death vultures are an endangered species.
I was there and it was a disgrace, Charmaine Yoest became unhinged, the subject is heated enough without bringing violence to the table. This helps our cause about as much as Eric Rudolph.
Why are democrats so afraid of democracy?
JaneScully, I’m not sure ‘Unhinged’ as in the title in Michelle Malkin’s best selling book about Liberals (unpaid promo) is accurate.
But we will be a-loading the clip. And we all can “roll the tape” as Bob Novak often says.
Push back is not always unhelpful.
Thanks,
Jack
Oh Im so excited to see Charmaine!!! (My coach)
She rocked! I’m so proud of our Charmaine. And its funny now that I knew what to look for, I can appreciate even more how well she did.
Was it a minor belly-to-belly bump fest? Maybe its time for Charmaine to use her new found knowledge from Football for Dummies.
Pat, Charmaine and Kim certainly are two heavyweights in the culture wars.
And they did go toe to toe.
I’m not sure they went belly to belly. Although some might say that the emotions were Sumo Wrestler-sized.
Thanks,
Jack
Jane, thank you for your kind support. You are right, no one does the camera like Charmaine.
Thanks again,
Jack
First let me say that I love the way you love your wife Jack. That is beautiful and totally refreshing to see.
Second, I missed the altercation, but can’t say I’m surprised. The Left will do whatever they can to silence the truth. I’ll have more on that later…now it’s time for me to go to bed and to thank God again for great people like you and Charmaine. I love writing right…
SPO has it right in the first comment. Liberals have such difficulty facing facts, when someone actually uses FACTS to show how intellectually and morally bankrupt they are, the libs just raise their voices. They hope their lack of reality can be compensated with volume.
Then, when others see them for what they are, and start ignoring them, it’s “Censorship!” Remember Natalie Maines in 2003? “We’re ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas.” People stopped buying Dixie Chicks music, radio stations started dropping them like hot potatoes, and some Hollywood liberals actually considered how to force radio stations to play Dixie Chicks tunes!
How did GWB respond? “[T]he Dixie Chicks are free to speak their mind. They can say what they want to say… [T]hey shouldn’t have their feelings hurt just because some people don’t want to buy their records when they speak out…[F]reedom is a two-way street…I…don’t really care what the Dixie Chicks said. I want to do what I think is right for the American people, and if some singers or Hollywood stars feel like speaking out, that’s fine. That’s the great thing about America.” (Interview w/ Tom Brokaw, 24 Apr 2003)
Censorship my a–.
Note to JaneSully: Do the words “We’re fierce, we’re feminists, and we’re in your face!” ring a bell? The “manners” you expect of a conservative are only a tool for liberals, who have no intention of abiding by the same rules. The rudeness you saw from Kim Gandy is only the tip of the iceberg. During last year’s election campaign, there were several hundred assault and battery cases, including vehicular assaults, against people displaying Republican signs in California. Did you hear about them on the news? Nope. But let one fake memo about President Bush reach Mary Mapes’ sticky little fingers, and all Hell breaks loose.
Take your one-sided “manners” and put them where the sun doesn’t shine.

I was watching the event and noticed that the last person to speak was a guy named Blake Cornish, who I knew at college, and hadn’t seen in twenty years. He’s now a NARAL lawyer. To think I liked the guy and thought he had a promising future!
John, Goodness, if you knew then what you know now, you might have been able to persuade Blake toward a productive, wealth creating livelihood.
Jack
Great gummy bears. You have to be kidding me.
Does anyone have video of the confrontation? (not that I expect the MSM to air footage of choicers behaving badly….)
